A Native Floridian. An Adventurer. A tea drinker. I love working with the incredible golden hour light we get here in Florida when the weather gods are on our side, and the diverse locations we have here- from old growth cypress hammocks in my backyard in Seminole County, to the historic downtown areas of Winter Park and Sanford, and the secret tropical garden nooks tucked about the city of Orlando and Maitland. When I'm not behind a camera, I love spending my weekends off with my family (including Koda & Moby, our pups!), opening up my latest issue of National Geographic, zenning out to yoga, electronic music festivals, art/ photo shows (Snap! Orlando) and trail running at our local Scrub Preserve with my guy. I also devour podcasts like Modern Love, Design Matters, TANIS, Tim Ferriss, The Moth, Serial, Song Exploder, Women of the Hour, Full Time Photographer, Reply All, Zero to Travel and get my news from TED/ NPR/ Reddit. :)
Art inspires life. Life inspires Art. I pour my creative energy and time each day into documenting your world beautifully for your now, and your future. As photographers, our perspectives are inspired by all of our experiences. It's a beautiful cycle. What inspires my life? Cultural Anthropology has been a pretty solid foundation since graduating with my B.A. from Warren Wilson College, where I wrote a thesis on activist street art, with a minor in Art- History I & II, Painting, Life Drawing, Intaglio Printmaking, traditional bookbinding, Design + Color theory, work experience that ranges from Bookshop keeping to office managing a Landscape Architecture firm, flower arranging & event design and selling NZ native plants to Aucklanders. Love stories, Wes Anderson films, early morning forests, Scandinavian/ Old World crafted objects, 1960s travelogues, Anthropologie magazines, the National Geographic Society and wildflower gardens all hold kindred places in my heart, and often inspire what I make.
Why have I specialized in Outdoor/ Lifestyle Weddings? After being asked to photograph weddings by friends who liked the photos I'd taken during my travels, I fell in love with the way weddings feel- as cherished rites of passage across so many cultures that bring two families together for posterity. The thought of how each person brings so much to their wedding day always makes me smile- it's a culmination of everything and everyone they love in life. I love to travel and be outside, and love working with couples who share this passion and finds as much inspiration in the natural beauty of Florida and the gardens, forests, mountains and oceans of the world as I do!

“STOP SEARCHING! Do yourself the biggest favor of your entire event and contact Shaina! Photography was one of the hardest decisions for me and I poured over portfolio after portfolio looking for the “right” person. You really don’t know who that person is until you work with them and I can say with 100% confidence that Shaina is that person. She was so easy going and happy the entire day, she didn’t miss a beat and I had such a fun time during our wedding walking around and taking pictures with my husband. Email communication was professional, she was flexible with our meeting times and her photos are up there with the best of the best. She`s offered to get in a canoe for our post wedding session (who out there would do that?!?) and her excitement makes me feel like the luckiest bride in Central Florida! Thank you, Shaina, for sharing your talents with us. We are so fortunate you were there on our wedding day!!!” - Megan & Michael, May 20th, 2016, Winter Park Farmer's Market Wedding
When looking for a photographer for our engagement and wedding photos, picking Shaina was a no brainer! My husband had previously worked with her and saw first hand what an amazing photographer she is!! During our engagement photo shoot, she was AMAZING! I cannot express how patient Shaina was throughout the entire process! My husband is not an easy man to photograph, however she was great at catching our special, and mostly goofy, moments and keeping him focused! She was truly a blessing the day of the wedding! I came to the ceremony venue slightly frazzled and her calming presence helped relieved my anxieties!! Her brother Gordon came to assist and he was a great help as well! It was evident that this was not her first rodeo! My husband and I decided to have a first look (Shaina had to do some convincing) and we are SO happy that we did!! Again, I cannot express how amazing she is at capturing those special moments! Everyone at the wedding absolutely loved her! She is very accommodating when it comes to finances, offering payment plans to make it more affordable. Because of this, we were able to afford a wedding album, which we are anxiously awaiting! - Nicole & Joao, January 2015, St. Augustine Castillo de San Marcos Wedding
