If you're planning your wedding, I'm sure you have lots of questions about your wedding photography. Here are some answers to my most frequently asked questions. If you'd like to learn more give me a call at 919.907.0685 or send me a note!

 

+ Are you familiar with my wedding venue?

If it's in Winter Park or North Orlando, the answer is probably yes! If I've never been there before, I'll arrive there early on the wedding day to explore around and find out some great spaces for photos throughout the day. I also usually look up ideas online for inspiration.

+ Do you only shoot weddings?

I also have lots of experience photographing families and little ones, and am available for senior sessions and headshots depending on the time of year. I am also available for marketing work to small, local businesses in the health, adventure, yoga, sports, fashion & lifestyle industries from June- Sept, and December-Jan.

+ What is your philosophy on photography?

+ how do you shoot dark wedding receptions?

I shoot a variety of styles depending on the situation and style of your wedding. I'll either use ambient light, my trio of off- camera flashes or some playful dance floor drag-shutter.

+ Do you recommend hiring a wedding planner?

Yes. From my experience with and without planners on site the day of, and organizing the wedding along the way- it always helps the day to flow more smoothly and leaves you two less distracted with making sure things go right during the day. This means more time for celebrating, great conversations and of course, more awesome photo ops! + Do you use photoshop?

I prefer to keep my images as natural as possible, and generally do little to no photoshopping. I have been using photoshop for 15 years, but no longer feel the need to use it often because of my knowledge of flattering poses/ angles and lighting. I also feel strongly about supporting our body images- no matter your size or age.

+ Can we print our photos?

You and your partner have unlimited print rights to your images. You can order professional prints through me in your online gallery shop, or you can order from somewhere like Minted.com or Artifact Uprising. I recommend against using local chain stores to print your photos. Respect your photos and don't print them in a cheap, disposable way.

+ Are you insured?

Yes, I have a event photography specific business insurance that covers my gear, and can give you a liability waiver for your wedding venue if requested.

+ Are you based in Orlando?

I live 15 mins from the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's Space Coast, just north of Melbourne (sadly, not the aussie one). I grew up a block away from the beach in Mimai, lived across the sunshine state as a kid, earned a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology at Warren Wilson College up in Asheville, NC near the mountains, before moving to a 30 min walk from the ocean in Auckland, New Zealand for 2 years on a working holiday visa.

+ Describe your wedding photography style:

I like to keep things really natural, with light posing, lots of candid moments. I also love making dreamy artistic photos that capture more of the emotion of the moment than purely documenting it.

+ What inspires you?

Wes Anderson films, National Geographics, the trunk of old photos I have from my grandparent's adventures across the world, and the US, Scandinavian illustrators, Haruki Murakami novels

+ How do you edit our photos?

I have been editing for 16 years, and I edit each of your photospersonally. I don't outsource this process, since I feel the artistry is in the edit. Programs I use include PhotoMechanic, Lightroom CC, ASE X2 and my film-emulation presets inspired by classic Kodak + Portra film scans. I deliver mostly color images, with a few black + white images when it suits the style and mood of the photo.

+ Do you backup our photos?

Yes- this is something I take seriously. For weddings and sessions, I always bring two full frame camera bodies, multiple L-glass lenses, extra batteries + cards. After your session, I back up your photos on a RAID system, and your online cloud gallery will be up for 1 year+.

+ Will you travel for our stateside wedding?

If it fits into my travel schedule, I'd love to. I am based out of Florida's east/ central coast and need airfare from Orlando International Airport or Sanford/ Orlando Airport, and accomodation for 2 nights. I'm a keen traveler, and usually arrive a day early to meet you two, and explore your ceremony location.

+ Will you travel internationally to our wedding?

Yes- I have a current passport, Global entry and have travel ready photo gear. I'll need roundtrip flight from Orlando International Airport (MCO), and two nights minimum accomodation. I love being immersed in other cultures, and try to travel internationally once or twice a year. I've traveled for weddings, styled elopement, family sessions and personal trips to New Zealand (lived there 2 years, went back in 2017), Australia, Bali, Thailand, Cambodia, China (twice), Japan, Fiji, Colombia, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Peru, Canada, Ireland, Scotland, England, Egypt and South Africa.

+ How can we book you as our photographer?

It's simple. Give me a call or email with your information and the wedding collection(s) you're interested in, and I'll send you a client portal to setup your $500 deposit and contract.

+ How do you say your name?
