Happy Thanksgiving! I’m thankful for the beautiful serendipities in life- being invited to photograph the engagement of two very special people- Sean + Claire, at a forest horse ranch that’s less than a 5 minute drive from where I’ve lived for 15 years! It’s so serene to make photographs in the dreamy Florida natural environment that inspired me to start photographing in the first place. I think back to my teenage years when I spent countless mosquito bitten hours spent curled up beneath a palm tree waiting for a green anole to hatch, or the last rays of the sun to flicker past. Now I’m incredibly thankful to have these beautiful narratives of people’s lives that layer so beautifully across the landscape, making both feel timeless and infinite.
It’s always special to start an engagement session knowing the place you’re taking the photos is especially important to the couple! This year, Sean proposed to Claire at this very barn, a therapy horse ranch where Claire works! I couldn’t think of a more beautiful place for us to spend a crisp November day just before sunset. We explored the barns, the palm hammock forest, and the roadway lined in live oak trees. Then we headed over to downtown Sanford’s newly restored Riverwalk area, where we caught a beautiful sunset on Lake Monroe!
